Three seconds – that’s not a lot of time to play with, so the worst mistake you can make is to clutter your pages with too much information. By all means include one, but you should also let her contact you by phone, email, at your physical address and even through social media.
- Jargon, Jargon, Blah Blah Blah – When it comes to writing about products, services, photography styles and even your About Us information, nothing is more off-putting to a reader unfamiliar with the industry than jargon. It’s tempting to use them to show that you know what you’re talking about, but the effect will just be to confuse and annoy the reader who doesn’t. Write like you speak – keep it simple and get your point across without all those irritating technical terms and buzzwords. Your reader will appreciate you for it and see you as someone who can help them find what they need.
- Copy Written for the Search Engines – The search engines aren’t going to rank you for your keywords if you aren’t including them, so you have no choice but to work them into your text. On the other hand, few things will bore a reader more quickly than copy peppered with obvious SEO bait. Times have changed and you don’t need to mention your key phrases once every 100 words any more – twice in a blog post will do just fine.
